This is what I see around here most often (Virginia, Historic Triangle), but this, or this, is the kind of fence I remember being described as cow-high and pig-tight--that is, high enough that a cow can't get over it, and tight enough that a pig can't squeeze through it.
On the other hand, I bet this is the fence that DC and I think of as battlefield fences. (Perhaps she also remembers the copse of trees and the peach orchard...?)
